Zasarians are smaller than Zax, hunched over creatures with armored carapaces and devious minds. Like the Zax, they have four arms and two legs, and a deep insectoid appearance. However, they aren't as strong or as durable as their larger counterparts. Zasarians are not known for technology, in fact, most technology and weaponry they use is salvaged, something they have been quite proficient with over the years. On their backs are smaller, neophyte wings incapable of flight, and they have no females of the species, instead using living hosts to lay eggs within.

Fertility: 0 (Oviposition is always 100%, Hybrid females use 5 as the Fertility rate of Zasarians, eggs can be removed if fast enough.)

Benefits:

Zasarians start out with 2 Genetic upgrades

Initial Power:

-When salvaging, Zasarians gain a +5 to their luck or technology score.
-Due to hardened carapace, they gain 1d4 resistance against all damage other than psionic.
-Zasarians have 4 arms, and can wield weapons or perform separate actions with them. If they keep two arms free, Zasarians are considered to have rapid reload as a skill.
-Compound eyes give them a 360 view, this prevents them from being flanked, or from ambushes from being attacked from behind.


Detriments:

-Hated by Zax; may result in being attacked on sight
-Despised by galaxy, take -5 to persona checks

Racial Veteran Class

Scavenger:
“Technology can be reborn…you just need to jerry rig it with more technology.”

Zasarians are well known survivors, often giving them the rather unfortunate slur of “Roach”. Forced to survive within the Fringe and on garbage worlds, they have long been scavengers of old technology, while they themselves remained technologically and socially stagnant. But over time, this in itself became a sort of philosophy. Survival and scavenging became second nature. What one would call a garbage or scrap world, a Zasarian would see a wealth just waiting to be taken. Using technology of various races, some Zasarians create new works. Weapons, armor, technology unique to themselves. Whether genius, or necessity, Zasarian Scavengers are some of the finest technological wizards within known space. Even if most people assume the weapons and armor they put together are garbage at first glance.

You’ve always been good with your hands. While perhaps not an engineer, you have a knack of putting things back together. You likely saw tinkering around as a hobby, or a way to survive, but over time, you’ve found yourself engrossed in the workings of technology. From industrial low tech, to the most advanced circuits and wires, you see the inner workings as a puzzle for you to solve. You don’t see junk, or broken bits of technology. You see it as material to make something more.


Requires: Zazarian, 10 completed missions

Jerry Rig:
Sometimes a single piece of tech will never be the same; but taking another item, you can make something different. You may take two items and merge them into one. This includes firearms and armor. When merging two weapons, average the damage, crit range, and magazine size. The firearm created is considered to be one of the weapon types. Example being a pistol and a sniper rifle could be either a pistol, or a sniper rifle. Armor becomes the heavier armor of the two, but gains the properties of the lighter armor. Both components must be repaired or undamaged before Jerry Rig can be performed.

Scrap Iron Machinist:
You see scrap metal is just something to be molded to your desires. Unusable salvage due to damage from a firefight or exposure to the elements becomes usable to you. It requires a day to make it capable of being salvaged, and successful Technology rolls.

Scavenger Optional Skills:

Broken Metal Mashup:
Seeing two broken items, you match them together, taking parts that still work to form something new. When given broken or damaged weapons or armor, you can mix them through Jerry Rig without first repairing them.

On the Spot Interchange:
Sometimes you aren’t given the time you need. Fortunately for you, you have multiple arms to get the job done quick. You can now use Jerry rRg in combat, requiring 4 rounds to complete. The item formed has 1 die size smaller on damage if weapon, as well as half its Defense bonus if armor, but becomes usable.
